And I'm sure it's hard for people around him to (1) be able to get through to him, or (2) even WANT to try to get through to him, because he's such an asshole.

Re: The System Works

It's easier to feel sympathy for a legitimate addict (particularly since most of us have known addicts at some point) because you understand what drives them. You realize how hard it is for them to stay clean and what they'll do because of it. I even felt a lot of sympathy for a guy like Tyson because you could see that he was being mainuplated and taken advantage of by everyone around him, and likely wasn't mentally competent enough to know what he was doing.

Milton, however, is just a miserable fucking asshole. I have a much harder time feeling bad for him. Sure, it's probable that he may have some sort of mental illness, but he's also had the resources to seek the best available treatments unlike so many others who wish they could. Instead he's done nothing but grow more dickish and violent. I guarantee that with his skill set being what it was, he had to have had people around him encouraging him to get help even if it was for their own selfish reasons. Presumably he chose to just be a piece of shit instead. Hard to feel sympathetic towards someone who won't help themself. Or Dusty Baker.

Re: The System Works

My tip got a whole article? I'm honored! On a serious note, even though Uncle Milton is an effing crazy idiot, I do feel bad for the guy and I hope he gets the help he needs.

Re: Behind Enemy Lines

Wow, thank you for going so that I never have to.

Re: The System Works

In my defense, I'm still a terrible person.

Re: The System Works

Awesome Post Kerm. Well said and a brave stance to take. It's really easy to see these guys as less than human, but it takes a good person to look past someone's faults and have compassion for them. I agree that Milton was a huge dick, but goddamnit I hope he gets it together.

Re: Friday Roundup: The “Farewell, Brian” Edition

http://deadspin.com/old-scouti...

Love Getting Blanked and the Drunk Jays Fans.

If you are looking for tickets, it's best to stick to section 125-115 or 225-215 as they are within the bases. The angle on seats further down the lines can lead to awkward neck positioning.

The 200 level seats around the bases are padded and have a bit more room. There is a club level restaurant/buffet which isn't bad. There are also a pretty good roast beef sandwich station in the King's Club area behind home plate.

There is a memoriabilia section in the main team store. Game used jerseys, bats, helmets etc. Depending on the weekend they have the World Series trophies there on display.

Real Sports is a short walk from the RC and has good food and drinks. The TV is massive. Saturday it will be packed with the Leafs playoff though. Likely very difficult to get in. Gretzky's at 99 Blue Jay Way isn't bad for food or drinks afterwards.

Highly recommend hitting up the Steamwhistle Brewery tour. It's just across the street from the RC (south side) Good beer (free sample!0 and steps from the stadium.
When will the podcast return?
